The most experienced voices say that this winter will be harsh, one of those “like those of the past”. That it will be cold and that we will have heavy snowfall. That you have to keep the woodsheds full and shore up the caravans’ advances because there were years when they were sinking.
We already have everything ready in case this happens, because we like to see the territory dressed in white, but also because we want those who stay with us to enjoy it in complete comfort.
That is why we also want to make a small compilation with the options we have in the Pallars Sobirà to enjoy the snow, in all its aspects and in 4 different ways, from the 4 resorts that you can visit with the purchase of a single ski pass.
PORT AINÉ
Port Ainé has a special meaning for us as it is located on the northern slope of the Pic de l’Orri (2439m), and the best thing is that you can see it from the window of our house. It is the ski resort of reference in Pallars, as it is the most accessible and perfect for beginners. It must be said that it has unbeatable snow conditions, since its orography in the shape of a pot and its orientation make it maintain a good climate. You will find it only 35′ from L’Orri del Pallars.
SPOT SKIING
Whether you stay in our Casa Llop (Espot) or in any of the other accommodations we have, it is essential to visit this village, where you will also find the Espot Esquí slopes. It is one of the smallest resorts, but with a slope that will not leave you indifferent, with steep slopes that put anyone to the test. It faces northeast and offers postcard views, only 40 “drive from L’Orri del Pallars and 7” from the village of Espot.
TAVASCAN
The Tavascan resort is undoubtedly the best option for freestyle and off-piste lovers. Located at the top of the Cardós Valley, 1 hour from our house and in a completely wild and high mountain area. In addition to alpine skiing or Nordic skiing, it has also become an area of reference in which to practice skimo and take courses in the use of DVA devices (avalanche victim detectors). It is, therefore, a truly complete and perfect option for the most adventurous!
VIRÓS-VALLFERRERA
We will never tire of recommending the area of Virós, in the Vall Ferrera, to our dear customers. The Virós forest has a special charm at all times of the year, but during the winter it becomes an ideal choice for lovers of snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. Its 18 kilometers of marked circuits allow multiple options to spend a day that we recommend ending with a good meal at the restaurant Refugi del Gall Fer.
You can see that in Pallars Sobirà we have options for all tastes and levels. Now we only have to wait for the first snowfalls and the announcement of the opening of the ski resorts. We have an inexplicable desire for snow! And you, will you come to enjoy it?
